Failed to load the appropriate report editor
In SharePoint 2013, When I tried to create a new report with Reporting Service template via PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer.
I got the following error
Failed to load the appropriate report editor
Cause
It seems the Microsoft Report Viewer 2012 is not installed in your current environment, which you need in order to create Reporting Services reports in Performance Point Dashboard Designer.
Solution
First, make sure that Microsoft System CLR Types for SQL Server 2012 has been downloaded installed before installing Microsoft Report Viewer 2012 to avoid the following error.
- Select Select \x64\SQLSysClrTypes.
- After installing Microsoft system CLR Types, go back to download and install Microsoft Report Viewer 2012.
- Download Microsoft Report Viewer 2012.
- Or click on the link within the Information dialog that will download Microsoft Report Viewer 2012 automatically.
- Click run to install it.
- Now close the PerformancePoint Dashboard designer and reopen it again that should be now working properly 🙂
Conclusion
You must make sure that the Microsoft Report Viewer 2012 is installed, To be able to use Reporting Service Report Report in PerformancePoint dashboard Designer.
